Resources for teachers: term projects

Oxfam Australia produces a range of term projects, aligned with issues of global importance and national days of action.

These DIY projects for students are designed to be student-led, action-based and scalable to suit your school and context. Our projects inspire students to take individual and collective action in their schools and communities.

Term one Featured Resource: Close the Gap

Close the Gap resources will help students understand the issue of Indigenous health inequality and how to support closing the gap. These include classroom resources and a guide on how to run an event at your school.

Term two featured resource: Fairtrade and Water

Primary School Focus: During Term two, your students can combine their fundraising efforts with a student-led enquiry into the importance of water, hygiene and sanitation. Host your own $1 Day event in May. We will provide you with related resources to extend the teaching into the classroom.

Secondary School Focus: During Term two, your students can explore the issue of Fairtrade. Through our Fairtrade action guide, videos from the field, facts and tips, recipes and more, students can learn more about the issue and how they can use their consumer power to make a difference — including joining the Fashion Revolution!

Term four Featured Resource: Hunger banquets

Oxfam’s Hunger Banquet project gives students a first-hand experience in the inequalities in our global food system by holding a lunchtime Hunger Banquet event at school. This project helps students explore issues of global hunger, food security and inequality while taking action to help create a world where everyone has enough to eat.
