The Social Studio (TSS) is a Melbourne-based social enterprise which provides young women and men from refugee communities the opportunity to realize their potential as designers, makers and retailers of fashion.
This new generation of talented designers create pieces entirely out of recycled clothing and excess manufacturing materials. TSS is accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia and their clothing range has proved increasingly popular—featuring in fashion magazines, design blogs and at festivals. Alongside its fashion enterprise, TSS assists members of refugee communities to gain access to a range of social services and training programs.

The dinner was hosted by SBS newsreader Lee-Lin Chin and featured performances by members of local refugee communities. The gala dinner raised $10,000 towards the development of the Social Studio, which will be used to expand its hospitality training program and cafe.
