New 55km optionFor the first time in Australia, a variation has been introduced in Brisbane with participants being offered a secondary distance option of 55km. These teams will walk alongside their 100km counterparts, but start one day later and 45kms down the trail. They will have 24 hours to complete the challenge. This year we’ve set a high goal for fundraising, with the Brisbane event aiming to raise $1.6 million in support of Oxfam’s work around the world. Oxfam Trailwalker gives people the chance to do something truly extraordinary – for both themselves and for others. It’s a personal challenge and an experience in what’s possible, as well as an opportunity to bond with friends, to be out in nature and to get fit. Most importantly, it’s the chance to make an impact and support people living in poverty. As Bree, an Oxfam Trailwalker 2013 participant, commented, “It was the most amazing experience of my life. I loved every minute of it”. Registrations are now open for both the 100km in 48 hours and 55km in 24 hours options. If teams sign up before 31 December they can enjoy a special early-bird registration fee of $500 for the 100km option and $350 for the 55km option. Registrations are also open for the Melbourne event and are filling up fast. You can register a team for the Melbourne event here.
