Cyclone Winston in Fiji: A man stands in the wreckage of his house

Cyclone Winston tears through Fiji

On Saturday 20 February 2016, Cyclone Winston — a powerful Category 5 storm — passed through the Fiji Islands, generating devastating wind speeds of up to 325kph.

Communities in the direct path of Cyclone Winston experienced catastrophic damage. At least 43 people died and entire villages were destroyed.

The people of Fiji now face the threat of disease. Access to clean water is essential for the prevention of waterborne disease after a disaster.

Oxfam has a team on the ground with expertise in clean water, sanitation and hygiene.

Please donate today to help the people of Fiji.

Note: Should the funds raised exceed the amount required to meet the immediate and longer term needs of the people in the affected areas, Oxfam Australia will direct donations to our International Crisis Fund to enable us to rapidly address emergencies as they occur.
