More than 5 million Indonesian women work in factories. Their wages are often very low (on average female factory workers receive 30% less than their male counterparts) and two thirds of women workers have poor job security.

But many Indonesian women are actively trying to change this situation—campaigning for increased rights within their workplaces and challenging gender based discrimination at work, at home and in their unions.

Women Inspiring Change is a short documentary that shares the stories of two Indonesian women who participated in a leadership program supported by Oxfam.

The training program was designed to strengthen the leadership skills of women and help them to challenge gender based discrimination. Many of the participants have now formed their own alliances and organisations, where they share the skills that they have learned with their collegues to create positive change in workplaces and community.
