The people of Solomon Islands are living the climate crisis

Patricia (pictured above) has lived in Lilisiana village, beside the ocean, her whole life. She is witnessing the climate crisis firsthand.

She has seen the sea level rise. High tides now inundate her village, destroying crops and eroding the land. The ocean is now encroaching on the village’s cemetery, flooding and destroying graves.

For the people living in Lilisiana, the climate crisis is ruining their way of life

“We live by the ocean and when we have the big seas, we can’t sleep at night. We’ll be worried for when the sea will destroy us.”

— Patricia Geli, Lilisiana village, Solomon Islands.

There are solutions

The communities of Solomon Islands are strong. With the right tools, training and advocacy, they will build resilience to the effects of the climate crisis. With your help, we can work with partners to:

Prepare ‒

By powering education programs that will teach people how to raise their gardens above the waterline.

Adapt ‒

By supporting safe water projects that will help communities get access to drinking water that is not tainted by seawater.

Respond ‒

By assisting communities to relocate facilities away from low lying coastal areas.

Help us support communities most vulnerable to the climate crisis
