OUR WORK IN THE PACIFIC REGION

Around 2.3 million people live in the Pacific region, which is also one of the most vulnerable areas in the world to climate change. The region is already experiencing extreme weather events exacerbated by climate change, such as cyclones and flooding; changes in seasonal weather such as El Niño and droughts; rising sea levels, king tides, and saltwater intrusion. Pacific Island countries are face challenges in how to prepare and respond to these threats, including how to deliver resources like climate finance to those who need it most.

OUR PROJECTS IN THE PACIFIC

Pacific Climate Change Collaboration Influencing and Learning (PACCCIL) project

Climate change is already impacting Pacific Island countries, especially marginalised groups including women, children and people living with disabilities. Oxfam is fostering a collaborative and inclusive response to climate change and disaster preparedness in the Pacific by partnering with local climate networks. We act as a facilitator to help these networks directly influence government, the private sector and civil society, and we provide them with the knowledge and skills they need to advocate for sustainable solutions.

This project is funded by the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
